.218 Bee ammo

Why is .218 Bee ammo so high? Compared to other "not so popular" calibers. Even unloaded brass seems to be insanely priced. Stuff like 221 Fireball which is very similar in "size and shape" is 1/2 the price of 218 Bee. Just curious.

I was looking at buying a Tarus Raging Bee, until I looked at the price of ammo. You three shoot a lot more to bring the price down to where I can afford to be the fourth.

One would hope that with the arrival if the 17 Bee componentry will come down, but who knows?! The Bee was a nice little round and really pressaged the advent of some of the newer short/fats that are now so popular.

Consider that number to be 5 1/2..Don't qualify cuz I converted mine into a Mashburn Bee. Brass lasts a whole lot longer and it spits the zingers out a bit faster..Really the brass has a much longer life..Shot mine first as a bee the converted ..Really improved the life of the cases..Good hunting..modoc

I just had a 100 pieces of 218Bee brass and 200 slugs of 45g Rem HP delivered from Midway for just a little more then buying 50x loaded. I figure that the brass is priced high because it is only made in limited runs and there will be no warning when the discontinue it. The single shot that I'm working with is chambered for the standard 218Bee, but I am considering the mashburn conversion because of case life. So I and three of my shooting buddies bring the total to almost 10 who still shoot this cartridge.
