remington manufacture date

This model 870 wingmaster magnum has a 'u' stamped on left side of barrel and ( w479214m ) on the left side of receiver. Trying to find out what year it was made, THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

    I have a remington 512 with the barrel code KG 47 and according to the website the gun was made in either May of 1938 or 1960. What I don't understand is the number 47 stamped next to the letters. Any input would be appreciated

    All of my Remington barrels have a 2 or 3 letter code. You might want to check it again as they are very small and easy to miss. The first letter is the month code and the last one or two is the year code.
