Savage 11F

Thinking about getting one. I bought about five years ago a Weatherby Predator in .308.

I do not like the way the first round feeds into the chamber. The magazine box seems "too big" for the round and it will sometimes take a hard smart push on the round to load it.

Any one have experience with the Savage 11F and how easily or hard it chambers a round?

Any other comments on the Savage 11F would be appreciated as well.

Thank you.

    plains scout,

First let me state flat out that I always support buying new firearms for any reason. Now that I have that out of the way...

I would call Weatherby and discuss this feeding problem with someone that actually understands the rifle and the way it functions. What you describe isn't supposed to be necessary to get a cartridge to feed from the magazine. The rifle and magazine should hold 5 + 1 and still feed properly. It might take a few minutes on the phone but you should be able to determine what the problem is in short order and arrive at a solution. Be prepared for them to ask you to ship it back to them, just ask for a return shipping label.

    Best.

    Mobuck hit it...

There is no reason for anyone to be unhappy about how a Weatherby operates. Send it back to them and they will make it good, in one way or another. They sell good guns to a satisfied customer base.
