I have a Marlin 25N that I got as a 12th birthday present (23 years ago). It is still going strong! I can reliably shoot squirrels out to 50 yards all day with it. It isn't the best looking .22 bolt gun out there, but it will shoot with the best of them.

Marlins are rugged, well-built and dependable. They simply don't have the historical significance of Winchester. Annie Oakley gained fame using a Marlin and if they were good enough for her, they're good enough for me! I have Marlin 39's and they're great little guns. I think they're even better built than my Winchester 9422's but, again, the "Winnies" bring more money due to their history - and maybe years of a bigger marketing department!

I'm totally sold on marlins I have a 39a and a 925M in 22 magnum. The 925 isn't the prettiest rifle out there but its very well made and accurate. For the mony I don't feel they can be beat

The marlin bolts are good little rifles, they are not as refined or as well finished as many of the others, but they still work very well

My Marlin 882SS in .22mag is a wonderfully shooting gun. On sandbags, with shooting bench, at 60 yards, I can faithfully put five bullets into a 1/4 by 1/2 inch 'grouping'.

Of course, you gotta clean it ever now and again, but it's probably best to do that with all guns.

I really like my Marlin .17 HMR in stainless. It is a remarkable shooter and about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on!
