JGA Bolt action pistol.

A relative of mine just showed me a bolt action pistol, the wood grip and frame is all one piece and the barrell measures approximateyl 11 inches long. On the top near the bolt it said JGA and then on the side it has another marking and 6 m/m. He was told it was probably an Anshutz (sp?) but that is not on the gun anywhere. Anybody have any info or could direct me towards some info on the web. I tried a couple google searches and didn't really see much. It is in good shape but appears to be pretty old.

This is a J. G. Anshutz. But was it always a pistol??? I have had several Rifles in 6mm and shotgun in 9mm glatt (shot) Is it 11" with the receiver or just the barrel. Could have been cutdown from a rifle. I have seen a few like that.

"JGA", was a trademark used by the Anschutz Co. on their firearms. I personally have never seen any of the older bolt action, rimfire Anschutz's, as a short barreled handgun. Only as rifles. It's possible your relatives pistol was originally made as a rifle, and then "cut down" into a pistol by some shade tree gunsmith. If this is the case? It could have very negative legal implications, if he is caught with it in his possession. My 2?.

I will try to post some pics. I would be absolutely shocked if it was a cutdown rifle. It looked great. It was a single shot bolt action. When you opened and pulled back the bolt it cocks the gun. There is no mag or anything. Ill see what I can do for some pics.
