remington 742 grip cap

i'm looking for a replacement grip cap for a remington 742 - i think its the adl, since the stock's checkered but there's no monte carlo cheekpiece and the forend looks normal. i've seen two different types of grip cap online - one is molded and says 742 on it, the other is plain. does anyone know how i can find out which would be 'correct'? there are screw holes in the bottom of the grip... thanks.
