ultrasonic cleaners

Anybody ever cleaned silverplate whith an ultrasonic cleaner? If so what cleaning material did you use?

    I'm looking at a reasonably priced ultrasonic cleaner for small jobs such as brass an small parts.There are two in a recent catalog about equal in size and price. One is made by Lyman and the other by Frankfort Arsenal.Has anyone had any experience with either brand.There is a wealth of knowledge out there and I value your opinions and have never been steared wrong. thanks in advance

    Standard jeweler's solution is water, a small squirt of Ivory liquid, and a squirt of ammonia.
    If you are trying to polish silver plate to make it shinier, the ultrasonic won't do it. You will need to hand polish with a rag and silver polish. I prefer Simichrome paste.
