Winchester 90-06 Markings

I have a few questions about the markings on a model 90-06.

1st off the barrel is marked 22,S,L, and LR. Is this not uncommon?

2nd, the leading edge of the receiver has a few marks that I am sure were added "after the fact". Hopefully by Winchester.
There is an upside down diamond with a "V" inside it and the number "44" below the diamond.

Next there is a stamped "W3R 55"

There is also a single "O" stamped on it.

The serial number on the tang is 494285, but the serial number on the bottom of the receiver next to the barrel is also 494285 but it has an "A" below it.

Maybe you can tell something from the pictures.

Thanks for looking and any info that you might have.

the stamping marks are from the assembly line inspectors. you have a model 90 receiver with an after-market barrel installed. the barrel is probably from the old Numerich Arms parts house. It fits both model 90 as well as the '06 model rifles. they sold a ton of these for guys replacing their old shot-out barrels.

Your rifle is a Winchester Model 1890, and it was manufactured in late May of 1912.

The barrel is definitely not factory original, and unless the cartridge carrier has been swapped out along with the barrel, it will not cycle and feed Short, Long, and Long Rifle cartridges (it will only feed Short, or Long cartridges).
