My father just bought a Remington 760 In 244cal. He's wanting to know what it's worth. He also would like to know what differences there is in 244 vs 6mm ammo. Which is more accurate. Any help on this gun would be appreciated.
Also gun is the older model marked 244 not 6mm. Thanks in advance Tom Reichert aka trapman69

Around here used 760's go for 300-450 depending on condition and caliber. I think I remember reading at one time or another that there was no real difference between the .244 and the 6mm, only a name change as a marketing ploy. I have never seen a 760 in that caliber, so it might get a slight price premium if it is in great shape and the right buyer is found.

The 244's were rifled slower than the newer 6mm Remington. The later would handle heavier bullets making it more viable for deer. This was a little too little, a little too late as the 243 Winchester was off and running with a quick twist and a parent case (308 winchester) that exists ad nauseum.

THE .244'S DO BRING MORE $$ AS THERE WHERE FEWER OF THEM, USE THE LIGHTER WEIGHT BULLETS (<90 GRNS.)
