USGI 15 rd mags have been cheap & plentiful for so many years, I just haven't seen any aftermarket mags except for those cut down to lo cap. Within the last year or so the price has risen to $15-20, but few sell at that price. There are enough folks sitting on large quantities that you should still be able to find bargains around $10.

30 rd mags are another story. There are a bunch of aftermarket & foreign made mags out there, few of them identifiable as to manufacturer. The best are USGI Seymour mags (marked SEY), but there are counterfeits of these on the market. AYP marked mags made in Belgium for the military are pretty good. Most of the others are not reliable.

Tom Forrest is an honest, long time mag supplier who has just about anything you need.

If you haven't already read it, there is a very good article from the CMP about M1 Carbine magazines -- particlularly the 30-round magazines. Click the "CARBINE 30 ROUND MAGAZINE" link on this page: http://www.odcmp.com/rifles/carbine.htm

The link is a PDF file of the article.

It looks like the CMP has 15-round magazines available.
