Winchester 97 Butt Stock...FOUND w/pics

I am totally happy to have found a "proper & correct" butt stock for my Winchester. A few months ago, I was fortunate enough to find a true deal on the gun itself, but unfortunately, it had an incorrect butt stock on it.
Well, my quest is over and I have added some pictures below for ya'll to review. Also, below is the link to a previous thread where I posted pictures of the gun. The gun I have is not perfect, so this butt plate will be a good match. But it is correct!!
I have a butt plate on it's way which actually came off of a trench gun in the 60's. The kind gentleman who responded to a question I had recently had one from a gun he purchased many years ago. It's nice to know the butt plate will find it's way back to another trench gun.
I do have one question though....How can I get that awful #14 marking off the stock with the least amount of finish removal?
Anyway, have a great day and wonderful Thanksgiving. I know I have an abundance to be thankful for.

If you are going to keep the gun, your call.
If you are going to flip the gun, leave it be for the next owner.
Best, Joe
EDIT
MOONED:..would you be so kind as to show us some buttplate photos of the finished product? More for eye-candy than anything else. Thanks, Joe
I'll do some contemplating before removing the number from the stock. I was't sure why it was there.
