I have an opportunity to purchase a 2003 FN Hi Power Mark III "S" that was made in Belgium. The serial number is 511MX50855. Can anyone tell me more about this firearm from the serial number? Model is HP MKIII "S" in 9mm. What does the "S" indicate? The firearm shows very little wear with some slight wear around the hammer. I would have to say it's 98-95%. Does anyone know the approximate value of this Hi Power? And, is it rare? Thanks.

The pistol is not rare. The MK III is the third variation of the HP design and was developed in around 1988 with commercial guns arriving in the early 1990s. The "S" should indicate a standard blue finish rather than the military matt finish.

Thanks, Mark. Do you have any idea what it might be worth? I know a lot depends on condition but could you provide a price range from 98% to 95%?

They go for about $400-450 in the box.

Thanks, DCS. This independent seller is asking $550. It can be a bit confusing looking at current retail prices and then cross referencing prices in the Blue Book of Gun Values. I am no expert so any and all input is welcomed. However, I am trying to determine if this is a good value or not. Does it matter if this Hi Power was made in Belgium and assembled in Belgium and later imported into the U.S.?
