I have an Italian Carcano that's in pretty nice shape, looks to have a refinished (varnished - ugh!) stock. Any markings anyone might know of that might point to it's worth?
I knew it couldn't be worth much, thanks guys!

Pictures are necessary to help you in evaluation but most are pretty common and not highly collectible.
but I remember when I was
a kid reading my dads field
and stream and I'm pretty
sure you could buy
a carcano for $7.
Your right about the $7. Then for another $7. you could order 500 rds of military ammo (full jacket/corrosive primer) , then you go to the REA (railroad express office) and pick it all up and find they want an additional $35. for REA shipping. Those were the days and you could do the whole deal as a 12yr old, as long as you had the money!
