you can get it to pump if you push the button on the side..you have to do it everytime you want to eject and put in another shell...

some of the early ones didn't have an 'automatic' slide lock release, you took your shot, pushed the button and then pumped the action.

"What do you think? Is it possible?"............SURE given enought $$$$ anything is possible.........is it worth it.....not in a thousand years. the 520 isn't a 'good' design, if it works as is shoot it if it doesn't hang it on the wall.

Like some older shotguns, the slide lock/release doesn't work until the slide is moved forward just enough to relieve pressure on it. (That's why when dry firing, you have to physically move the slide forward momentarily before pumping it rearwards.) The recoil of shooting it should do this without your realizing it. I would go with Hunsman's advise to find the slide lock/release, then clean it & lube it.

" I would go with Hunsman's advise to find the slide lock/release, then clean it & lube it"........the early steven's 520's never had a slide lock release or any provision for one, you manualy unlocked it for ever shot.
