I have a .270 caliber bolt Mauser 98
model K-29
my question is that this rifle is made by federal firearms
has anyone heard of federal firearms. So far the reasearch and looking has led me to nothing but dead ends. Magazines,
local gun shops, and internet searches have all turned up nothing.

I am looking for any and all info that I can find on federal firearms.
If you have any info or can steer me the right direction to get it.
I would greatly appricate it.

Thanks Sled

Don't know if this will help you or not?. There was a outfit who did business in Southern Calif. for years, under the name of Federal Ordnance. They sold some "Sporter", ( Ex Military, that were sportized ) rifles under that name.

When the went out of business in 1992, another company, "Brickley Trading Co." bought their remaining assets and sold them off. This is possibly the orgin of your rifle.

I'm not sure about the 1+1=2 of the following guess but bear with me. The K-29 part of the name of your rifle may mean that it is a sporterized Polish K-29 mauser. Is there an Eagle crest on the reciever ring and the words F.B. Radom? Also, down the left side of the reciever rail is there a legend that reads "K-29"? Depending on how heavily altered this gun is, and if you have any desire to do this, you might want to rebarrel and return it to its' original glory. The ethnic Poles out there (and some of the rest of us too) really go GA!GA! for those things! My guess would be that if it is nicely done (the sporterization) you should leave it alone as this is a great platform as the Poles really made some great guns. The one I am shooting is the most accurate non-Swedish Mauser I've ever pulled a trigger on! Are you planning on selling it? If you are, you should post a picture ot two so we can give you an idea of what it might be worth on GB. Let us know.
