.22 Colt Ace

I have a Colt Ace Slide with barrel & other parts. I thought it was a .22 conversion. I tried to install it on my M1911A1 but it did not install because the rear of the Ace slide was not cut out for the M1911 frame ejector. The Ace slide is also approximately 1/4" shorter. Can anyone tell me what I have? If you provide your email address I will upload photos. Thank you

Bernie

This is Sam Lisker's excellent site. He goes into great detail on the various Colt Autos.

Go to his menu and select "Colt Ace", he'll give you the skinny on what you have.

What you have is a first model colt ace they were made as complete pistols . They did not have floating chamber as in SERVICE Ace and had a weird fireing pin retainer . with serial # on slide under it you can use on any 1911 type frame if you remove ejector contact me if you want directions on how to find serial.
