Movie - Training Day - What type of 1911?

In the movie Training Day, what type of pistol does Denzel Washington have? I believe it is some type of 1911 but I don't really know. You can see a really good shot of it when he pulls it on Hoyt for not smoking, when they pull the college kids over, when they stop the rape, and when Denzel gets in a shootout after stealing the money. My Dad loves the way it looks and I wanted to get one for him for his birthday. I joked around about getting him the EXACT same one that is used in the movie so if anybody knows the exact man. and model that would be great. Thanks.
