    .38 S&W.

NOT .38 S&W Long, or .38 Special, or .380 Auto. All are different cartridges.

It's probaply chambered for the ".38 Smith & Wesson Cartridge", this is not the same cartridge as the ".38 Smith & Wesson Special".

The ".38 Smith & Wesson Cartridge" is shorter in overall length then the special. It was originally loaded in the 19 Century ( 1877 ) as a black powder round.

It is very commonly found in inexpensive revolvers produced by Iver Johnson and other manufacturers as late as the 1930's.

.38 SHORT COLT .....38 S&W ...ARE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME EXCEPT FOR THE BULLET TYPE AND WEIGHT...THERE WERE TONS OF IVER JOHNSONS MADE IN THIS CALIBER...ALL OF THESE TYPES OF LOW COST REVOLVERS WERE CHAMBERED IN LOW M.V LOW M.E CARTRIDGES..32'S & .38'S..MOSTLY FOR THE DESIGN LIMITATIONS :RE STRENGTH ( TOP BREAK )& SIZE OF THE WEAPON
