I have seen used S&W 4506s for around $400.00 at gun shows. Usually carried-much shot-little police tradeins. They are great guns. I bought one about a year ago, like it much.

Go to a gun show or FFL and look for a used Glock 21 .45 ACP. Got mine at a gun show, like it.[:)]

Why buy a used gun at a gun show and risk the fact that it may not work ? Buy a Ruger new from your local dealer.

God gave us all a gift. Have you found yours yet ?

You could go the under$300 route and get yourself a Ballester-Molina. This is a Colt knock off sans grip safety with different trigger set-up made in Argentina. Some parts interchange with the colt and you can use a few of the available speed parts to spruce it up if you wish. I've owned 3 and still have the best of the lot that I shoot regularly! Great fun...paid $200 with my C&R and sunk another $100 in speed parts to get a REALLY nice shooter that I enjoy immensely!

The SA Mil-Spec is about $440 delivered to your FFL. (Mine is $20 to transfer and $20 DROS).

That's a decent 45 you can take apart and make smoother, and it has a lifetime warranty.

The newer models are markedly higher, but the older ones are still out there.

If you can find a Star PD, you'll be very pleased, I think. They are now often very reasonably priced around $300. The PDs have an alloy frame, weigh 27 oz., and are still one of the respected, good shootin' .45 compacts, especially once you get a set of Pachmayrs on one. Extra Star 6-round mags are still available, and I believe they can also take many of the Officer sized 1911 type mags.

I too would go the used Glock route, but then again I'd take the more powerful 10mm instead. I've got one right on that money here on GB.

I agree with Jim Stark. Look at the EAA witness compact or the CZ. Lock and cock capability and well as double action. 10rds of 45acp. Then again if you want power look at the 10mm. My 2 cents

I bought a .45 Ruger P90 about 5 years ago at a gunshow for $299 NIB. I have put thousands of rounds through it and it is extremely accurate and reliable. I'm sure there are alot of other good .45's out there, I just have had excellent service from all my Rugers.

Gunshows are your best bet. Saturday I bought a like new Colt 1991A1 from an individual (not a dealer) at a gunshow for $400. It came with 8 mags too!

Later that day I ran into another guy selling a customized 1911 on an Olympic Arms frame for $400 also.

Mauser M2, it's made by Sig so I don't think you could go wrong with one. You could get a brand new one for $400. Plus it has a 10 round capacity.
