help identify scope rings

I have a set of rings that I cannot identify. They are the old style that requires removal of objective and ocular bells to install, in othe words not 2-piece. The bottom clamp area is tapered, wider front to narrower back and the front(?) ring has about a 5/8" width while the rear has about 3/8" width. It would appear that they go on a rifle with integral bases similar to the Sako. As I recall, the older Sakos had a system similar to this but I haven't seen one in years so can't be sure. Any help would be appreciated.

With all these responses, I'm surprized the topic hasn't been locked!

Considering that hundreds, maybe even thousands, of different configuration scope rings have been made over the years, it's not surprising that there has been no response.

Can you borrow a digital camera from someone & post a picture for us? At least then, you'd have a chance of identifying it.

Sounds like Bassington rings. Any notches on the clamp, like shark gills....very small?
