I'm going to assume you mean low cost rifles. With that, it probably is a Marlin bolt action of some sort. I have a 882SS which is their stainless 22 magmum bolt action and it is about as much for the money as any 22 magnum rifle one could buy.

Now this is more like it; a man who wants the best and is willing to pay for it! Don't over look the Dakota .22 rifles as they are top quality. There are a number of other outstanding rimfire rifles on the market, but I'd need to know if you are interested in match shooting or prefer the traditional sporter rifle.

Mark, yes and no, on the match shooting. I'm looking for something on the lines of a Ruger model 77. My friend has one and we can drive tacks with it. But I have been told a CZ is just as good, another guy has put down the Rudger 77. Just checking my options and want the best.

    Deasil..... Welcome to the forum.

For accuracy, a bolt action from Anschutz, Remington, Winchester, or Ruger would provide good accuracy. Anschutz makes some real tack drivers, but you will pay more.

If you want a fun shooter for small game hunting and target shooting, the Ruger 10-22 is my choice. I have several of them set up for different tasks. There are more accessories made for the 10-22 probably than any other .22 rifle since it is so popular.

I own two CZ's, a 452 Lux in 22lr and a newly purchased 452 American in 22 magnum. Their my son's, but I take them out by myself for pure pleasure shooting. The proof target that came with the American had 4 shots in a dime size group and one flyer. I had a Marlin 25MN, but had extractor problems, magazine problems, and the scope grooves on the reciver weren't straight. It was accurate, but really poor workmanship.

For twice the price you could have an Anschutz, but not that much more accuracy.

    My two cents.

Don't forget about the Kimber's! I have a Marlin in 22 Mag, and it is a tack driver, but been thinking really seriously about a Kimber.

Ruger 10/22--What can't you do with it? Out of the box it is a fine shooting rifle. If you want to spend extra money there are plenty of accessories to dress it up, accurize it and everythign else.
