Muff Pistol

I just bought a small Derringer type pistol which a friend told me is called A Muff pistol. Single shot. No marks. Barrell swings around to the side. about 4" total length. Any comments.

    Think of a Muff as a large chinese finger trap that both hands fit into, except of course the hands do not get stuck:) The muffs were usually made of fur or quilted material. They had small pockets inside them that a lady could carry a small pistol in. Usually a single shot.

    It is about a .25 cal. Cartridge

    CHAR got it. Hand warmer, aka muff. Nicely hidden into a proper ladies muff for protection. Of course in today's venaculer, well...you get the picture.

    Muffs as I recall were flattened, fur cylinders about a foot long and a foot high, lined with satin. They were stylish hand warmers with fur that matched the fur coat.
    No way of diving into them.
