    Charlie,
It's pretty straight forward. Get monopod. Install with bolt and nut.

What else you need to know?

Monopods; (repro) Sarco (right down the road! from you) has them with the bolt and nut.

    p3,

Just got home from Sarco with my monopod, good guess, haha.

Not so simple though, seems to have a pin in it that must be driven out, then pod installed and pin replaced.

Then bracket with screw and bolt go into rear hole to keep pin from coming out.

    Whatda think?

Whoa! The rear band has a hole for the monopod. You shouldn't have to knock out anything! Some 99's did not take a pod. What series is yours?

ADDENDUM; Another way to tell if your rifle had one is to examine the wood just aft of the front band. You are looking for bruised/damaged wood from where the pod folded and clamped onto the stock.

I have a Nagoya Arsenal series 2 Arisaka type 99. It has the rear barrel band with two holes in the bottom of it. The front hole is where the pod is held and the rear hole holds the cover with a screw and nut.

This rifle does call for a monopod. Wish I had a photo for you.

I have the same problem! Can't get the pin out of the darn thing to mount it. I have whacked it pretty hard more times than I can count, and it won't budge. I think I will take it to the drill press and dill it out, then use a roll pin to install it. Any better suggestions?

    intercessor,

Man, ya gotta hit that thing hard until she starts. When it gets about half way out, ya can remove it with your fingers.

I got mine all back together and it looks great.

Not to discourage you, but getting the pin cover on is no easy task either, haha. Bring yours over to my house, I'll help ya.

Mine looks just like the pics from ATF. OK njretcop, Tomorrow I,ll take it to the shop, put it on something solid, and have at it. Nothing to loose. Worst case, I have to drill it out. Thanks for the encouragement.
