223 1/7 or 1/9 twist? for AR15

I am looking for a barrel that will group consistently with the 69 grain match king. I currently have a 1/12 twist, and it only likes 55 grain. Would a 24 inch 1/7 twist or 16 inch 1/9 twist be better?
I would like some feedback from experienced shooters with actual results...I am going to invest, in a barrel, an would like the best downrange accuracy, which means tighter groups..Thanks...Ted

I would go with the 1/7. I have 2 with 1/9 and they are good for the 55 and 62 gr. If you can get one, I would probably go with the 1/8, but that was not one of your choices.

Thanks for the info, forgot about the 1/8 twist. I know a class III manufacturer that builds NAF short rifles, he uses the 1/8 10.5 inch
barrels and says they put them all in a dime at 100 yards..

I shot a Ruger Mini-14 with 1x7 twist, tried the 69 and 72 grain bullets, it didn't do anything spectacular with them. I'd say stay with the 1x9

in the past, the rule of thumb has been: the less of twist, the heavier the bullet used. this lessens the amount of wooble and tightens the pattern. talk to an ar-15 builder or armourer!!!!

Okay, I got some info from a fellow gunbroker seller. He gave me the stats, he emailed me a copy of the book. Just so anyone might want to know..THe 1/14 twist is for the hyper velocity 45-50 grain.
The 1/12 is for the 55-60 grain, The 1/9 is for the 65, 69, 70 grain
the 1/7.7 or 1/8 as we know it...is for the 75-80 grain, the heavy stuff..The 1/7 was built by the US military for the 62 grain, ss109 military round. BUT OVERALL THE 1/9 gives the best overall accuracy for a variety of bullet weights. It was adopted by the Match shooters association..Okay thanks Guys...For the help. I am going with the 1/9 hbar...
