Help Gun Jammed!

So a friend of mine was looking at my gun and jammed it with a snap cap in the chamber. Now the Slide wont budge at all please help! Its a Smith and Wesson 908!

    Pull out the mag, and just keep pulling the slide back and forth. You might have to pull it open or push it closed while somebody else push or pulls it out. Otherwise take it apart like you would field strip it. Take off the slide if it lets you

    puta cleaning rod in the barrel and put force on the jam, an do the same thing at same time as nards444 says to do....

    I had this happen with a defective live round. We had to hold the pistol against the bench, muzzle up, then insert a cleaning rod down the barrel and beat on the rod with a mallet. We got it open without damage.

    A nice piece of wood dowel works great for this procedure. Down the barrel and tap on it with a plastic or rubber hammer, it will pop out without any damage to the gun or the cleaning rod.

    Be gentle, I suspect you have the extractor stuck in a position where it is not fully engaged on the rim of the snapcap.

    Glad you cleared the problem. The easiest and safest way to clear this type of problem it to turn the firearm upside down and tighten the slide in a padded vice then use a rubber hammer to lightly strike the rear of the grip frame. Sometimes it takes more than a light rap. RJSnow

    O.K. , remember the 'range rules' , keep weapon pointed down range , raise weak hand and ....Oh , Ooops , anyhow , glad you got it cleared ! was going to offer some advise , but not needed now ...
