1911 barrel ?

This is what I know the barrel has these stampings on it 7791193 and under it 89. From what I found I think this is a crome lined GI match barrel produced in 1989. Is this right? The other question is I had this barrel fail while firing and jammed the gun. I was able to clear the jam and stripped the gun to find the ear(for lack of a better word) where the link pin goes through had broken off the barrel. Anyone know what might cause this to happen and if it is worth tracking down the same barrel?
Thanks

I have a 1911 barrel #7791183 on hood, MI on left lug, and S&W on the right one. Just wondering what years is it for and what it is worth [?]

EDIT, put the right number in [^]

Your barrel was most probably not properly fitted to the slide. 1911 barrels do NOT "drop in". Buy a standard barrel, then take the pistol to a smit with a good reputation to have it fit. This is not a do it yourself project[:D]

Hello This area of a barrel is called the bottom locking lugs These can break for a number of reasons as old fool stated It is best to have a pistol-smith install a new barrel that knows what he or she is doing. With 1911 type pistols. The link pin, link, and wear on slide can affect how your barrel locks up . Also the recoil spring might not be matched to the load you are trying to shoot"TOO WEAK" . I don't think it was a match barrel but rather a military replacement barrel the 7791193 is a Government DRAWING number and this drawing number gives all the spec's as to size in each area. thanks for the info I have very little info on this gun as it came to me through a friend that had picked it up out west. There were 2 other markings on the bottom locking lugs on one side it had a P on the other I think it was an M. I was looking for a pistol smith to install the new barrel once I get it. There was no way I was going to try that one on my own.
