T/C G2 Contender Question

I recently purchased a 50 cal. barrel and forend for my contender. My problem is two fold, when tighting the screws the rear screw sticks completly out of the forearm. The second being this same screw tightens down and locks the ramrod? Now I know what your going to say, reverse the screws, well I tried to do that and the shorter screw will not even contact the threads if placed in the rear hole? I'm not a gunsmith but the forend appears to me "not" to have been drilles deep enough by the factory. I called the factory and their answer was to send me new screws? Any help or anyone who has experienced this problem I would love to hear from you. Thanks

    bucslayr,

That is pretty much it. I'm thinking the wrong screws for your fore end were used and now you need to have them replaced. They have several different lengths for each type fore end they have with all the contenders, G2's and encores. Will they send them or do you have to buy them?

Thanks for the info. Yes they said they would send me a new pair of screws no charge. I hope this works!

If the replacement screws, they are sending you are also to long? You could try filing down the length of the threaded part, so their will be less engagement.

Clamp the head of the screw in a vise, with a piece of cartridge brass around it to protect the finished surface. File down the threaded part on a trial and error basis, until the screw seats to the proper depth in the forearm.
