38+p +p+ snubby for carry

In the past I have carried a snubby 38 spl, since it was relatively small and you kept you brass with you (yeah I know, a quirk of mine). I never considered the 38spl as quite enough power, and the old piece was not rated for +p. I traded the snubby away recently, so I am looking for a replacement.
I don't want the added cylinder length of a 357, so I'd like a 38spl that is +p+ rated. If I have to go with a 357 gun, I'll use 357 ammo. I've reloaded most everything for 30+ years, but avoid it in a carry gun and opt for the factory 38 loads made for snubbies (for legal reasons).
What are your favorites / best value / or overall suggestion for this change.
Thanks in advance.

If you end up getting a .357, I would advise staying away from the uber-lightweights; I recently had the opportunity to fire a buddy's S&W (model escapes me, but it was the 2"(1.5"?) scandium/titanium model)...with standard velocity .357s, it HURTS. With .38+P, it wasn't quite as bad...but still was no kitty-cat (guess you can't use the term for cat which begins with a p...).
