I am in need of a Ruger blackhawk .45 acp cylinder for a 3 screw model mfg. in 1971. Will a new model cylinder fit? Thanks, bpking

If you can find a cylinder you should be able to make it fit with an end-float bushing from Bowen Classic Arms. I just had a Super Blackhawk .44 Mag cylinder fitted to my .44-40 Vaquero, which didn't fit by approx. .020 inch OAL when I got it. The end-float bushing allowed my gunsmith to easily fit it at a cost of less than $80 for machining. It came out beautifully and shoots great (although .44 Mag out of a 4 5/8 inch barrel definitely gets your attention). Bowen sells the end-float bushings for $15.95 for a package of three if I remember correctly.

The problem I ran into was that Ruger refused to fit a cylinder to any revolver that wasn't in precisely the caliber the gun was sent from the factory with. They bluntly told me they don't fit auxilary cylinders. Hence, the direction I took with my Vaquero. Maybe with a new CEO Ruger will become easier to get along with again. They also undo trigger jobs if you send a gun in for repair that has had one, as they did with my .41 Mag Blackhawk.
