Gun show question?

I'm a end user...ok.

My Taurus 22 is just too hard to cock (hand surgery) and want to take into the up-coming gun show and trade it for one thats easier to cock.

What problems will I have walking into there with a gun in it's box?

Thanks
Jay

Should have none if you are of age. Lots of folks bring tradin' guns to gunshows. Wouldn't hurt if it was unloaded, though here they just make you give them your loaded magazine and you pick it up when you leave (speaking of conceal carry pieces).

From what I hear, you shouldn't have any problem in FL. Lately some of the local shows are getting really CS as far as bringing in handguns. Besides inspection and putting plastic ties on them, to make the mechanism safe, ( which I agree with ). Their putting colored adhesive stickers on them. Then when you leave, they have a couple of guys standing at the exit, demanding for you to show any handguns. So they can check for the colored stickers.

gun shows here in WI , you have to have the gun checked at the door , a plastic tie is but on along with a colored dot , each day the color of the dot is different , for the dealers inside they have a different colored dot that they have to put on a gun when they sell it and you have to show that dot to the guys at the door to get out ,

like yestereday the dealers dot color was red and the color for dots coming into the show was white , today they will both be a different color ,, makes it simple to tell where the gun came from and if you don't have a dot you don't leave

The security problem makes it difficult to handle guns at a show, especially since you will need to try out any gun you are looking at. If gun shows in your area are like those in mine, it's just the local dealers with tables of their usual stock at the usual price. You may be better off going to a gun store where you can get more personal attention & help picking out a gun suitable for your limitation.

Many of today's revolvers are hard to cock, probably a result of liability concerns. The only revolver for which light springs are readily available are the S&W's (Woolff springs). You might want to consider a used S&W auto (M622 or M2206), as the slide springs are light enough for a child.

I would advise you NOT to attempt to trade you gun to a gunshow vendor. Most (but not all, I suppose) are basically like pawn shop vendors. Their business is to buy low, sell high. You'll be LUCKY to get 75% of it's value out of it.
You might have better luck hawking it to other passerby patrons at the gunshow.
But in general, I believe you'd be better off to either sell it here at auction, or attempt to sell it locally.
Just don't let the "Top dollar paid for your used gun!" adds that gunshows run get your hopes up.

After reviewing these posts, I agree.

Maybe run a ad in my local paper and sell it or something.

    Neal:
where is a good place to buy this S&W auto (M622 or M2206)??

    thanks

The Glock 22 is not a .22LR gun; it is a .40. Not easy to retract the slide.

The stainless S&W's I named are more difficult to find than the blue versions, the M422 & 2204. These are functionally the same. Most of these guns came with either fixed or adjustable sights; I recommend the adjustable.
