Shipment of Ammunition

One more shipping question from me!! This should be very easy, as I think I know most of the regs. I want to ship a box of old .22WRF ammo,...........about 4.5 pounds. I have read on the ammo subject, UPS is actually the easiest to deal with, as there are no HazMat charges. I am aware of the ORM-D cartridges, small arms labeling. The questions are,.........does this require a signature upon delivery, and can this be dropped off at a retail outlet, i.e. the UPS Store, or must it go to the hub counter like handguns?
Calling these people seems to get you nowhere, as the "morons" that answer the phones, are not even aware of their own regs most of the time!
Any info would be appreciated.

I drop mine at the local store. On the form, contents are cartridges, small arms. Yeah, ORM-D on the package. Yes, you SHOULD have adult sig required. Do not know that it is required, but it is so much simpler than explaining what went wrong, and that is how the kids got the ammo that they used to....

    Hello Marc,

It is not necessary to have the "adult" signature required... there are no kids where you are shipping them[:D]

It needs to go to a hub, unless your shipping it from your place of busness.
The "local" stores are not supposed to accept ORM-D packages

What he said, but with the addition that the package can also be handed to your regular delivery driver if you catch him at your residence(not just place of Business) delivering a package.

Thanks Rich for that addition. I am trying to avoid going to my "hub", as there are typically 20 or more people in line, and the dopes that work there are oblivious to the company's own regs. I will either try that, or more likely, will take it to one of my suppliers that has a pick-up account, and ship hazardous materials all the time, and let them ship it for me. I am very good friends with the manager,.............I am in the Air/ Conditioning business, and I can save a lot of time, since I am there almost daily anyway!
    BTW,.......No not the CIA![}:)]
