I was going to a gun show today and thought I might pick one of these up. I was wondering how you guys that have them, felt about them.
I did a search of the forum and found a little but it was all over a year old.
Just looking for some newer comments.

The Beretta Cougar(8000?) is now made in Turkey by Stoeger. Anyone have any comments on its reliability?

G&A loves it. (or is it Gun Tests?)

Anyway, I read some glowing reviews on it.

For Colonel Plink: Thanks. I obtained the article and it was in G and A as you said. I was wondering if it would make a good "car gun."

A good friend is a local cop and has to carry the issued gun on duty, but can carry anything he wants off duty as long as he qualifies with it. He carries the .40 MiniCougar, he loves the thing. And he has lots of handguns to chose from.

For the asking price, I'd think it's be perfect for that.

For Colonel Plink: I usually go down to the Bears Den outdoor store in Lowry City Missouri. Its an hour and a half drive each way, but the owner, Larry Gates, is a Vietnam Vet and gives me great deals. I bought a CZ 40P for him out the door for $375 including taxes, shipping and so forth. So, I figure if msrp is $370, my price would be right around $300

For Boogeyman: I like your choices of firearms. I have one of those home Mossbergs as well....holds 9 rounds.

Don't mean to sound like a snob, but does it concern anyone that the Cougar is now made in Turkey? Supposed to be the factory simply transplanted from (Italy?) to Turkey. I am aware that some affordable semi-auto shotguns are coming out of Turkey

It gave me pause at first, but the article in G&A stressed that it was the same tooling being used, and went on and on about the quality of the piece. It was enough to convince me anyway *shrugs*

I suppose if you have any doubts, you can probably pick up a used Beretta Cougar for about the same price....just a thought.
