Leupold Vari X II adjustment ??

My brother recently grabbed up an older Vari X IIc scope from someone that was in a tight financial pinch and was wanting to mount it on his 243.
The scope came with no paper work and under the adjustment caps does not say if the adjustment movement is 1/4 or 1/2 inch at 100 yards.
Anyone know which it is??
Any idea how old this scope may be??
It hardly has a mark on it and seems to be pretty clear.
He paid $95.00 for it.
Hope he did not pay too much.

    Texas Hunter,

Leupold states that this scope uses the 1/4" adjustments. This is a low end scope and Leupold saves money anywhere it can including not having to mark the knobs. You should test this for your self or your buddy by putting a grid target or graph paper at 100 yards, put the rifle in bags and turn the knobs. Count the increments of movement on the graph paper or grid. The reason for this is that low end scopes are notorious for lacking precision in these movements.

As to cost, check some auctions or look at some used equipment listings.

    Best.
