Hi,
I have a WW 1 mauser in great shape with what looks like original leather sling . Missing clip. Barrel is stamped 1899 AMBERG there are 3 other letters stamped near this with crowns over them R,U,B.
I can send pix if anyone would like to see them. I was unable to attach any here.
Any help to find out what this is worth is appreciated
Thanks ,
George

Welcome to the Forum! Those are pretty neat, especially if in original condition. There are directions on how to post pics on the General discussion forum (a "sticky note" topic). Until we see pics then...1) that is a first year GEW98 from Amberg.2) Those are fairly rare. 3) Everything is dependant upon condition. 4) There should be many more proof marks both on the stock and metal, to include lots of crowns and crests. 5) are the numbers all matching? 6) How is the rifling on a scale of 1 to 10, and the muzzle crown too? 7) Are there Imoprtation marks on it? That is a good start. When we see pictures, we can help a great deal more. Contact me via e-mail if you like, through my profile.

It also probably has the 318 bore instead of the later 323, if it was converted to the 323 bore(started in 1905 if I recall) it might be worth slightly less.
