Any feedback on this slip on device? In theory it sounds good but does it really work as claimed?

They work as well as deer warning whistles.

    Me too.

Of course, I haven't hit any elephants, either. So, when folks ask me what they are, I say they are elephant warning whistles, & since I've had them, I haven't hit a single elephant. That doesn't prove that they work on elephants, but it's good enough for me.

I tried my whistles on deer in a state park overrun with them. I even made a speed run, because I was told you had to be going > 40 mph. Whatever the speed, the deer never even looked up from their meal.

    garanch,

It works but I'm not sure that it works exactly as they claim. I didn't have time to establish the best groups possible with the rifle I tested briefly. It did change the groups but that is expected and contrary to what the internet naysayer experts without experience claim.

The theory behind the De-Resonator is very sound in the world of physics and shooting. If you dampen the harmonics of a vibrating system the system will change, it has to. The same thing occurs when you cut the barrel shorter, mount the barrel in a barrel block or bed the first inch or so of the barrel in front of the action. The harmonics are changed. Browning and Winchester accomplished the same thing with the B.O.S.S.

Now whether you can improve your groups depends on you and even more still, the quality of the barrel and the system that you are shooting. If you can't shoot, neither can your rifle. If your load stinks, so will your groups. You see where this is going.

If you don't want to spend the money on the De-Resonator, go to the hardware store and buy some 'O' rings slightly smaller than your barrel diameter along with a hose clamp that fits over the 'O' rings. Put the 'O' rings on your barrel and tighten the clamp over the rings. Voila! a poor man's version similar to it that doesn't cost $20.00 + shipping. Now, it's not exact because it isn't made from the same damping material but it will get the idea across. Both are ugly as all get out so it's a break even there[:D].

    Best.

    My thoughts...
If I put this on my gun and went hunting with my hunting buddies, they would laugh me out of the jeep. Does it work? Probably so, but if you are struggling that hard to get an extra 1/4 inch at a 100 yards...and the darn thing is just ugly. I have no use for it.
I will say that the Limbsaver recoil pads are great.

Thanks for the replies. That is what I figured. Besides being stupid looking I cannot be made to believe that vibration can be dampened enough to matter.

How do deer know how to cross only by the deer crossing signs?
