BOUGHT THE CREEDMOOR---INFO ON GUN SAID, USE BLACK POWDER OR SMOKELESS---BOUGHT SMOKELESS AMMNO---WHEN GUN ARRIVED, USE BLACK POWDER ONLY STAMPED ON BARREL---WILL THIS GUN NOT TAKE SMOKELESS AMMNO?

    I would call the manufacturer and ask. When you say "info on gun" was that information from the manufacturer or some other source.

    Please turn your caps off, it is considered to be "shouting" and is frowned upon.

    Gun is a Winchester 45 caliber

    I wondered about this and asked. Was told that the gun is chambered for 45-90, no SAMMI specs exist for this cartridge, so the gun could not be officially certified for smokeless rounds due to no max established pressure. Lawyers dictated the "for black powder only", gun is built with modern steel and is a strong design, if you keep pressures to that of 45/70 you will be fine.
