FN MAUSER - VENEZUELA

guys I'm new to this forum so bear with me on this......my major interest is Savage 1899/99, but recently I picked up a beautiful mauser which I know little of. By the way, before I forget, pictures are avail. if attachments can be sent. It is FN and made I believe for the Venezuela Military. Someone told me it is a "short" mauser used by the shooting teams at the Pan Am Games (which one I don't know). Beyond that I know nothing escept it's 7mm, in beautiful condition, has a T bolt and #85 stamped on all the parts. The ramp sight has been removed and there is what appears to be a fiberglass cover over the opening. The sight is a a very sophisticated peep by, I think, Lyman, although I'm not sure, and the front sight has several inserts to choose from.

I would like to know more of the history of this rifle, when it was made, if made only for the games, ext. and value.

    wingui,

I think the one your talking about is the Venezuelan M24/30 which was used in the Olympics for target shooting.

    Best.
