I have a co-worker who is interested in possibly selling a 1948, Colt Official Police .22, serial # 30609. I have only looked at it once, last week, and thought it to be in better than average condition for a piece this old. The grips are not wooden, but some kind of plastic or Bake-lite material, but they both have the Colt Dancing Pony logo on them. There is a small amount of holster wear, and the right side of the frame has a tiny bit of pitted rust, but the action and timing seemed to excellent.
He's never shot the thing, thinking that to do so would break it---seeing that the pistol is 56 years-old. The pistol was well-oiled when it was put away, and the oil has turned to a wax-like condition, I just suggested to him that a good cleaning would loosing things up smoothly.
The pics attached aren't very good, next time I see him, I take some better one, but for now, given the above description, what's it worth?

If he has the original box and it is in like condition, I think it would be worth at least that.
