As far as accuarcy in a single shot rifle goes...is the Rem XR-100 more accurate over the Thompson Center Encore in the same caliber? I like the feel of both rifles...just don't know much about how they shoot.

I've shot both systems and while I really enjoy the Encore and many other single shots, the Remington single shots outperform them in the long run. It's not any one thing, it's the system design.
Just in general terms, a single shot bolt action rifle with a solid bottom receiver will have a greater accuracy potential than will a break action single shot rifle such as the Encore. It's the nature of the beast because of the two designs. Rigidity and consistancy are earmarks of accuracy and a break action usually isn't capable of the highest level of accuracy because of this. The Remington also has the capability of a fully adjustable or replaceable triggers.
There are some very minor exceptions (Encore) I'm sure, as there are with any comparisons such as this. But in general, the Remington system will be and has been the most consistant and accurate.
Best.

My Encore on a good day might change your mind a bit. [:D] When the fat lady sings it comes down to the shooter in a lot of cases that determines the difference.[;)][:0]
