What does DOH and DOC refer to when referencing an O/U shotgun? I've never seen those abbreviations used and someone asked what they were on a Winchester 101 that I have for sale.

    Adam,

I would ask him what they meant. No sense in racking your brain guessing what he is thinking. I have one idea but, again, I don't know what he's thinking.

For the record I have heard these phrases used although they are not the most common and both apply to all shotguns regarding fit:

DOC= distance off center, meaning the cast of the stock or it has been used as drop of comb see below. If the guy questioned you using a slash with the two terms he may mean the same thing for both.

DOH =drop of heel - how far the heel drops so the sight naturally lines up with the eye when the shotgun is mounted to the shoulder.

Here is a link I found regarding shotgun fit: http://members.aye.net/~bspen/fit.html

If it is regarding shotgun fit it is going to be difficult for you to measure.

Again though see what he is asking. I may be wrong in my assumption.

I did that, just figured it might be something standard that I should really know, but might be just his own abbreviation for something.

Drop at heel (DOH) and drop at comb (DOC) would be very common abbreviations as relates to firearms.

    SORRY.....guess that would be DAH & DAC wouldn't it.[:I][:I]
