Is there anyone who has an opinion of which is the better rifle. The old style or the new style Ruger semi-automatic 44.

I have an old one and my only 2 complaints about it are the tube feed mag and the fact that I let the wife shoot it so she thinks it is hers... Removeable mag or not, I'm not getting rid of mine.

BTW - my local shop has a nice one with no warning on the barrel...

I have a Deerfield .44 and like it. The only drawback is it does not cycle reliably with CCI Blazer .44 mag ammo. It says in the manual not to use aluminum cased ammo. I dont think it will "reliably" cycle anything but full power magnum loads.

I do like the detachable mags. I bought a couple extras with the gun. Much quicker on the reloads than the older model.

I like the new model. I got a deer with it this year and my son has taken several with it. It has been extremely reliable. My only complaint is some of the laquer is chipping off around the receiver, but other than that, it is flawless.
