I have a Browning Auto-5 semiautomatic 20 gauge shotgun. It is about 20 years old. It is still in the box, never shot and never even put together. I even have the original reciept, about $600 new.

I am searching for some hard to find info on a Browning double which has Beligum markings. Nice gun and has "twelvette" engraved on it. Last make somewhere around 1969. Have some info but Internet search is for nought right now. 12 ga, semi-auto, 28" barrel.

    Thanks in advance, Franko

This is probably a dumb question but i had someone tell me that his price guide showed a value of $700 for my brownig shotgun
( item # 16220343) The gun was brand new in the box so i started the auction at what i thought was a wildly optimistic price. since then its gone to a point were i'm woried i've mis represented it in some way. Was the price guide just not that accurate or have i done something dumb?

I am trying to gauge the value of a shotgun i received. It is a browning 16 gauge shotgun made in Belgium. It says "sweet sixteen" on the side and is very clean looking. My camera phone won't do justice in this case so i am only looking for an about or average idea of what it might be worth. serial # 52,xxx thanks

Also I was told that it has been rechambered for 3" shells but that when it is shot with 3" they will not eject completly. can this be fixed?

I'm assuming you're talking about the auto-5, my book shows 1935.

Can't tell you about value, since any collector value was lost when reblued and rechambered. It would be valued strictly as a shooter. You can go to the auction side and pull up some "closed auctions" for the A-5 16ga. and just see what they are bringing in the condition yours is in.

It is a semi auto, can't see anything on it about model. I'm not very informed about amo, as for the 3" shell. The owner is in his 80's and it was his fathers. He said it had been rechambered for magnium shells, thats why I said 3". And since the shell was not ejecting compleatly that just sounded good. He said that the shell would stop right at the edge at about 45%. What will fix this. THanks for the feed back.

A 16 GA. MADE IN THE 1930'S WOULD HAVE A 2 9/16" CHAMBER. MODERN 2 3/4" SHELLS WOULD PROBABLY NOT EJECT ALL THE TIME. WHILE THE CHAMBER MAY HAVE BEEN LENGHTENED TO 2 3/4" THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER PARTS THAT HAVE TO BE ALTERED TO MAKE THE GUN FUNCTION PROPERY (EJECTION PORT LENGHTENED, EJECTOR MOVED REARWARD, ECT.).

wait a minute slim. no alterations necessary to make that 'ol auto-5 shoot hi-brass loads (hi brass meaning > than 2 3/4 dram equivalent loads). untwist the cap on the muzzle end of the forearm. slide forearm wood off. slide barrel off. next slide friction bushing off. now for the hard part.just kidding. slide beveled washer off. bevel should be toward muzzle so as to accommodate beveled part of friction bushing. slide spring off. turn beveled washer around, bevel pointing toward trigger. slide back down magazine tube. slide spring on mag. tube. slide friction ring on mag tube. slide barrel on mag. tube. slide forearm on mag. tube. twist cap back on mag. tube. all done except you could have wiped all the crud off the parts you just rearranged and lightly oiled them.
