Model 70 Bolt Question

Hello...I was just cleaning a Model 70 (1974 vintage push-feed with cocking indicator). I removed the bolt and while cleaning the bolt it
went into the fire position with the firing pin protruding out. How do I get the bolt back into cocked position so I can put it back into the rifle? Also...what would have caused this...I was just wiping it down with oil when this happened?
Thank you

With the bolt facing away from you, hook the striker on the corner of a workbench, push forward about 1/4",compressing the striker spring, and lift up the bolt. The striker will then sit in a detent in the bolt rear.

V35...thank you for your quick reply...Is the striker the assembly right behind the bolt handle? I would be pushing on it ith the bolt face pointed away?...THANKS!!!

The striker is the part that hangs down from that assembly that engages the trigger sear. It's the rear part of the firing pin and is spring loaded.

Thanks for the HELP! I can now do it myself...and I also learned that it is easy to take the bolt apart when the bolt safety is set half-way (center position).
