I have a chance to buy a BSA Martini International MK II .22 cal with a Unertl 20x target scope with fine crosshairs. I want to know how the gun stacks up for accuracy against the competition and if it's a good value for $1200. Both the gun and scope are in excellent condition. I'm not famaliar with either BSA or Unertl and maybe can be advised what to look for, and what kind of accuracy to expect at 100 yards benchrest

BSA has been out of business for over 20 years. The model your inquiring about, was last made in 1960. For $1200, I would be damm sure to shoot it prior to purchase, to be sure it met your accuracy requirements. My 2?.

Here an article on the BSA Martini's:

In my opinion the price is way to high. A MK II will normally sell in the $450 to $500 range in great condition with a perfect bore. The scope is worth another $450 to $500. That's still leaves quite a bit of money left over.
One of the primary faults of the Mk II was that the forearm was attached directly to the barrel, so while shooting in position the pressure of the sling would through off groups. This problem was fixed for the MK IV and MK V versions as they were completely free floated. You will still have a problem shooting bench rest do to this.
There are other choices on the market today that would work well and cost less, such as almost anything in the line of a Anchutez Model 54:

Even if you were a collector of the International's I would still pass on this one. I collect competition grade guns and I would not even give it a second look. There are better choices out there and if you need help deciding on some thing just let me know.

I agree with mk 19, the martini's are great rifles and I own a bunch of them (see my post at mausercentral.com aboput 'martini time'). they are the eqivenant of any contenporary .22 match rifle (m-52 win., m-37 rem., ect.) but there is much better equipment available today. same with the unertal scope, top of the line 40 years ago.

Hello depending on what model scope Super Varmit model 2inch lens adjustable focus will bring $650.00-$800.00 if it has lens caps and 95% or better.[:p][:p][:p][:p]EDIT so not to use up one of your ten allowed replies. I would be willing to bet the right person /people would give you $650.00 + if it has the lens caps and is in that condition.

The scope is 26-1/4" so it's a 20x target model, and condition is at least 95%. Good or Bad?
