How can you tell the year of manufacture for a 311A 12ga?

Anybody have any idea of the manufacture dates for this 16 gauge double-barrel shotgun? There's no serial number on it and the seller doesn't know if it's a C&R or not.

Donld, Look and see if you can find the date code. It is stamped on every double that Stevens made between March 1949 and December 1968. Usually, it is behind the hinge pin or ahead of the trigger guard on the bottom of the frame. It will appear as a small circle containing a number and letter. Get back to me with the code and I can tell you what year it was made, if there is not a code then it was made prior to March 1949.

Thanks MK. I have to get in touch with the seller to give him that info and then I'll get back to you.
