Can anyone give me the lands and groove dimensions for a 38/55 trails end hunter?Or does anyone know what bullets work in it.I had some Barnes .375 255 grain (3855-10)that are keyholing at 50 yards. The same bullet shot great in a 26 inch barreled model 94 from around 1920. Thanks , Jim

The only manual I have that lists the 38-55 is the 45th edition Lyman manual.
In the test specifications it lists:
    firearm used
    Winchester 94
    barrel length
    26"
    Twist
    1-18
    grove diameter
    .377
    bullet diameter Jacketed---.376
    bullet diameter cast
    .377 to .380
    jacketed bullets used--Remington 255gr. S.P. No. B22876

I have no info on the trails end hunter. This is all the info that I have now.

    Thanks---Peabo

Peabo, thanks for the info.I did find out that the 20inch barrels have a 1:26 rifling. I tried factory ammo with the same results. I also tried some .376 cast performane over imr 4227.Those shot straight no keyholes or tumbling.
