The markings "Essen Stahl Krupp" usually denote the maker of the steel the barrels were fabricated from. Quality German made shotguns would usually have the gunmakers and/or retailers name on them.

We would have to have these name(s) and all the proof marks on the shotgun to have any hope in identifying it.

    keaven noteboom,

    Welcome to the GB forums!

Other places to look for marks to aid in identification are under the forearm, on the water table, on the barrels above the water table and on the inside and outside of the action tangs.

    Best.

Krupp was located in Essen and stahl is German for steel. So that gun was made with quality Krupp steel.

While thinking in WWII Krupp mode, I'm going to try and hitch a ride on this thread.
    I've got a sxs krupp bbl & 'action' in 16ga, a WWII bring-back.
I do remember 'Krupp' and 'Nitro' being the only words stamped on it.
With any luck, we may both be able to get some info on the various proof marks.
