I believe this ammo is corrosive. The 183gr is yellow tip, does this mean tracer?

Also, is this a good buy on this ammo, or can better deals be found? I haven't even ordered my M44 yet, so I'm new to this caliber.

    This is what I shoot:

But as for spesifics on it I don't remember.

It has been great ammo, and I paid $49 for 440 rounds from Ammoman.com about 8 months ago.

Yellow tip (on 7.62x54R) means "heavy ball". It's not a tracer or AP or incindeary or spotter or any combination of the above.

The HB starts out a little slower, but carries it's energy for a longer distance.

M 44 has a approximate barrel length of 18+ inches. Neither cartridge are a lot of fun being shot from it, unless you like muzzle blast and 2' flame from end of barrel. Go with the light ball, it slightly less apt to made your eyes water. Thats what I shoot from my Hungarian M 44.

Light ball unless you like abuse and wearing sunscreen.

It is a certainty this ammo will have corrosive primers, although they are not as bad as the WW2 and earlier formulations.

+1 to the IDs made and advice on the light ball!
