hey you told me about the ATR-1 or SAR4800 in 223. do you know where i can find one to buy all i can find is pictures

    The SAR is kinda rare, but I've seen several pop up for sale in the past year or so... check on the market place at falfiles.com

    For the ATR, have you found redrockarms.com yet?

    Also, don't discount the possibility of having a FAL built up in 223 (or 243 or 308 or 8mm mauser or 7mm mauser or ...), although bare recievers have gone up in price lately.

    I agree the Springfields in 223 are pretty rare, there was a survey running on the files, IIRC, only about 1200 were imported.

    Parts to build a 223 are non-existant, and would have to be custom made, the bolt being the most problematic.

    243, 25 souper, 260, 7mm-08, and 308 are easy.

    7x57 and 8x57 are going to be nearly impossible, since the rounds are much longer than the gun was designed for. Many good builders has played with it, I haven't seen a running rifle yet.
