    Do you mean Winchester Model "1894" versus "94"[?] I assume that the serial number on your Winchester is in the 290,000 range which would make it a Model "1894". Additionally, Winchester never used an "*" in the serial number)[?] If the serial number is in the 290,000 range, it was manufactured circa 1907.
